Tracfone can be a great option for people who want to have more control over their wireless phone bill. Tracfone allows customers to purchase minutes to use with their phone, allowing them only to purchase the airtime they need and not worry about going over in minutes and getting stuck with a hefty phone bill. If you have an Alltel phone you can switch your phone over to the Tracfone service fairly simply.
Instructions
1. Go to the Tracfone website and select "Activate New Phone" from the available options at the top of the page.
2. Press the large button in the middle of the screen labeled "New Tracfone Customer." A form will launch.
3. Fill out the personal information requested on the form such as your name, mailing address and security questions and press "Submit." Another form will launch.
4. Select whether you would like to port your existing number over to Tracfone, or get a new cell phone number entirely from the service.
5. Remove the battery cover from your Alltel phone and look for a sticker with a series of numbers on it along with the letters "ESN", "IMEI", or "MEID". These letters and numbers are how Tracfone will identify your particular mobile phone. When prompted, enter those numbers into the site.
