Instructions for Retrieving Voice Mail From Another Phone Using the Cisco IP Phone 7940 Series

The Cisco IP 7940 Series phone system is one of Cisco's many IP phone options. With the Cisco phone, you can check voice mails on another phone, a useful option if you are expecting an important call on your cell phone and accidentally left it at home. The process takes just a few steps.

Instructions

1. Dial the phone number associated with the voice mail you wish to check. Some IP phones require you to "dial out" before entering the phone number. The "dial out" code is usually an "8" or a "9." If your IP phone is set up to "dial out" first, press the "dial out" digit followed by the phone number associated with the voice mail you are checking.

2. Press the "#" sign on your phone's keypad as soon as the voice mail greeting begins. For some voicemails, you should press the "*" sign instead of the "#" sign. You will now be able to listen to your voice mail.

3. Follow the instructions as prompted to either save, delete or ignore the voicemail messages you receive. When you are finished listening to your voice mail, you may hang up the phone.
