Unlock A Motorola L6 By Cable

Unlocking your Motorola L6 with a USB cable will make it usable on all networks.

The Motorola L6 is a candy-bar-shaped slim phone that AT&T introduced in 2006. When you purchase the phone the software comes locked, which prevents you from installing a SIM (subscriber identity module) card from another company. This is done to prevent you from moving to another carrier. If you would like to use another company, you must unlock your L6. You have the option of using either a code or a cable to do this.

Instructions

1. Dial *#06# on your Motorola L6's keypad. Wait for the 15-digit IMEI code to appear. You need this serial number in order to obtain the unlocking software.

2. Plug the USB cable that came with your Motorola L6 into your phone. If you can't find it, you can purchase it from a local store for about $10 as of 2010.

3. Purchase unlocking software for your Motorola L6 (see Resources for options). As of 2010 it can be purchased for about $30.

4. Connect the USB cable from your phone to an open port on your computer.

5. Run the unlocking software on your computer by inserting the disk into your PC. Click "Next" and you will be asked to provide the IMEI of your phone. Enter the code and click "Next" again. This initiates the unlocking process. Wait for it to complete. When it is finished, unplug your Motorola L6 from your computer. It is now unlocked. Purchase a new SIM (subscriber identity module) card and replace your current one with it, in order to use it with a different network.
