Geforce 6600 Problems

The GeForce 6600 is a line of add-on graphics cards developed by Nvidia. The GeForce 6600 graphics cards include Microsoft DirectX 9.0 architecture and a 128-bit memory interface for improved graphics performance and shading.

Slow Performance

Users using GeForce 6600 graphics card have reported slow performance when playing games such as World of Warcraft. Updated game patches for World of Warcraft were designed to reduce mouse lag on computers and, in turn, can cause a reduction graphics performance. Nvidia recommends that users disable Vertical Sync and enable Hardware Mouse Acceleration settings in the game's video options menu to improve performance.

Unsupported Resolution

Users running the Microsoft Windows 98 or ME operating systems with GeForce 6600 graphics cards installed may experience trouble when setting video output and monitor resolution. The software and drive information included with GeForce 6600 graphics cards do not have enabled support for resolutions of 1440 x 900 and 1680 x 1050. Users who wish to bypass this issue and increase screen resolution can install a patch that will force systems running Windows 98 or ME to increase the resolution.

Artifacts and Driver Bug

Users reporting artifacts and other graphics anomalies popping up in games when using a GeForce 6600 series graphics card may have an installed driver with a bug. Nvidia has identified a driver bug that can cause the corruption of 3-D graphics on certain systems and has developed a patch for this bug which can be downloaded from the Nvidia website.
