History
Boost Mobile launched in Australia in 2000, and came to the United States in 2001 through a partnership with Nextel Communications. When Sprint purchased Nextel in 2006, Boost became a wholly owned company of Sprint Nextel Corporation, and is now a part of Sprint's Prepaid Group, which also includes Virgin Mobile USA. Boost Mobile headquarters are in Irvine, California, and the company operates nationwide.
Plans
Boost Mobile customers delight in the company's offering of no-contract and monthly unlimited plans. As of 2010, Boost Mobile offers unlimited nationwide calling, text messaging and data plans for $50 a month on regular wireless devices. For $10 more, customers receive email capability on BlackBerry phones. Boost Mobile also offers pay-as-you-go plans that are $0.10 per minute or $0.10 per text message.

Boost Mobile offers a wide variety of phones from companies like Motorola, BlackBerry, Samsung and Sanyo that, as of 2010, range from $29.99 to $249.99. Phones are purchased at a fixed price, unlike other wireless carriers that offer discounted phone prices based on the contract signed.
Marketing and Customer Base
Sprint Nextel acquired Boost Mobile to cater to young adult and teen consumers. Due to its client base, Boost advertisements have featured popular artists like Travis Barker, Ludacris and Kanye West, as well as Indy racecar drivers and former NFL stars.
Competitors
As of 2010, Metro PCS and Cricket are Boost's top competitors. In January 2010, Boost announced that it would offer devices and plans available on Sprint's nationwide CDMA network. Representatives also stated that Boost Mobile boasts fewer dropped calls than both Metro PCS and Cricket.
