Change An Iphone Battery

Change an iPhone Battery

The battery in the iPhone can stop operating correctly as a result of a number of factors. Sometimes the battery may have been exposed to water, or it just malfunctions from no fault of your own. Apple will replace your battery if you have purchased their battery warranty and the cause of the battery malfunction is covered under that warranty. If your battery is not covered under Apple's warranty, you can easily replace it yourself.

Instructions

1. Turn your iPhone off and unplug it from any power source.

2. Straighten a paper clip and insert the tip of it into the small hole on the top of your iPhone to pop out your SIM card. Take the SIM card out.

3. Remove two screws at the bottom of the phone with a Phillips screwdriver.

4. Insert the flat-head screwdriver into the crevice on top of the phone between the LCD and back cover, and pry it open. As you pull it open, notice the three cables connecting the LCD to the motherboard. The cables are numbered 1, 2, and 3. Remove them in numerical order, and disconnect the first two with your fingers. The third one will require you to slip the flat-head screwdriver underneath it on the motherboard to pry it up.

5. Remove cables 4, 5, and 6 (in that order) from the motherboard by popping them up with your flat-head screwdriver. This will allow you to access the motherboard and get to the battery.

6. Remove seven screws out of the motherboard. One of the screws is underneath a label; you will need to bend that label back and remove that screw first using the Phillips screwdriver.

7. Lift the motherboard away from the bottom assembly using the flat-head screwdriver to pry it up at varying points. Be gentle--the motherboard is still connected to the camera by a cable.

8. Lift the camera's cable away from the motherboard with the flat-head screwdriver, and then remove the motherboard.

9. Pull the clear tab that is connected to the battery up with your hand. The battery will lift up, and you can then stick in your replacement battery.

10. Reassemble your iPhone.
