Nokia 1650 was first released in 2008. The phone offers simple features, such as calling, texting and MP3 audio support. If you purchased your Nokia 1650 cell phone from a network carrier, chances are that your phone is locked with the carrier you purchased it from. Fortunately, cell phone unlocking has been legalized by the US Federal government in 2010, and now, any cell phone user can get his phone unlocked to use it with any other carrier. To unlock your 1650, you need an unlock code that can be obtained from your existing network carrier.
Instructions
1. Contact your carrier. Provide it with your name and the phone's IMEI and model. The IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity, which is the unique cell phone ID. Retrieve the IMEI by pressing "*#06#" on your 1650. Different carriers have different policies for providing users with the unlock code. For instance, AT&T requires the cell phone owner to be in good company standing for more than 90 days. Likewise, T-mobile awards the unlock code to post-paid consumers who've used their service for up to 45 days and to prepaid users who've used the network services for 60 days.
2. Wait for the unlock code to be emailed to you. The email will also contain instructions on entering the unlock code into your 1650 mobile phone.
3. Enter the unlock code into your Nokia phone. Insert the SIM card of any other service provider that the phone currently does not accept. Then, enter the unlock code accurately. Your phone will display a "SIM restriction off" message.
