Your cell phone contract has expired and you want to switch providers. Upon speaking with the chosen provider, you find that you have to purchase a new phone because your locked Nokia 6600 will not work on the provider's network. You love your Nokia 6600, but you don't want to stay with your current provider. In the past, purchasing a new phone was the only option available. On July 26, 2010, the Library of Congress amended its Digital Millennium Copyright Act , giving cell phone users the legal right to unlock their mobile phones.
Instructions
Unlocking your Nokia 6600
1. Request the unlock code from your current mobile service provider. Conduct an Internet search to find other unlock code providers, if your current cell provider refuses to provide a code.
2. Power off your phone. Remove the SIM card from your phone.
3. Power your phone on. Ignore any messages that flash on the home screen.
4. Type #pw+theCODE+1# into your phone using your keypad; Canadian customers on Fidos or Rogers network enter #pw+theCODE+7#. When "SIM Restriction Off" appears on the screen, the phone is unlocked.
