The free Google Voice voicemail service can replace your carrier network's standard voicemail.
Google Voice provides a voicemail service that you can setup on your Apple iPhone as an alternative to the standard voicemail service offered by your carrier network. One of the benefits of using Google Voice voicemail is that it offers more functions than most carriers, including a voice-to-text service that transcribes your voicemails and sends them to the iPhone via text message or email. Activate Google Voice voicemail on your iPhone by logging in to your account on a Web browser and choosing the activation link in your account settings.
Instructions
1. Launch the Web browser on your computer and log in to your Google Voice account.
2. Click the "Settings" link. Find the iPhone in the list of devices displayed on the "Settings" page.
3. Click "Activate Google Voicemail on This Phone."
4. Tap the "Phone" app on the iPhone. Type "*004*" followed by your Google Voice phone number and then a "#" on the iPhone keypad. Press the "Call" button.
5. Wait for the voicemail forwarding confirmation to display on the iPhone's screen.
6. Click "Done" on the Google Voice website. This activates Google Voice voicemail on the iPhone.
