Reinstall The Sound Card Driver

Your computer more than likely has dozens of different drivers installed on the system. All of these drivers tell the computer exactly function with a piece of hardware, ranging from your computer monitor to a Web camera. However, the drivers are files, and it is possible to remove a driver inadvertently. If you have removed the sound card driver, you may not hear any audio from your speakers, even with the speakers properly connected. If this is the case, you need to reinstall the sound card driver on your computer.


Instructions


1. Insert the sound card driver installation disk. If you upgraded your sound card, you should have this CD. The disk may also have come with the bundle of software you received when you purchased your computer.


2. Wait for the driver installation wizard to load. Accept the license agreement if presented with one, and follow the prompts to begin the driver installation. This only takes a moment to complete.


3. Launch the Internet browser on your computer and navigate to the manufacturing site of your sound card. This site has all of the updated drivers for all of its current and past sound cards.


4. Find the sound drivers for your computer by selecting the sound card with the same model type. There should be a download option on the device page. Click this, and the driver is will download to your computer.
