Set The Settings On My Nokia 6500

The Nokia 6500 is a digital cell phone that allows you to make or receive calls from virtually anywhere. Upon receiving your device, you may have a few questions about set it up. Following some steps and programming your own functions will have your phone ready to make calls in little time. You can set your ring tone, customize your display's standby mode, adjust the time and date, and establish a connection with your phone's Bluetooth technology.

Instructions

1. Set your tone (the sound your phone makes when it rings) by first pushing the "Menu" button (the central button just below the display). Push the soft key (an unassigned key located beneath the display) beneath the word "Settings," and then choose "Tones." You can then scroll through the different tones available on the phone. As you highlight each tone, a sample will be played. When you find the tone you desire, highlight it, push the soft key beneath "Options," and select "Save."

2. Alter your display's standby mode settings by first pushing the "Menu" button. From the menu, select "Settings" and then "Display." You will see a list of display options. Choose "Wallpaper" to have your phone display an image as wallpaper while your phone is in standby mode, "Standby Font Colour" to adjust the text color in standby mode, "Screen Saver" to assign a shifting image after a certain time of phone disuse has passed, or "Sleep Mode" to have the display turn completely black after several minutes of phone nonuse.

3. Adjust your phone's date and time by pushing the "Menu" button and selecting "Settings," "Date and Time," and "Date and Time Settings." Use the navigation key to set the time and push "Save." You can also choose "Auto-update of Time" to allow your service network to set the time.

4. Establish a connection with another Bluetooth device by first pushing "Menu." From the menu, choose "Settings," "Connectivity," "Bluetooth" and "On." You can change the name of your phone as it appears to other Bluetooth devices by selecting "My Phone's Name." You will see the Bluetooth icon displayed on your screen, letting you know that your Bluetooth is active. Turn your Bluetooth off when it is not in use to avoid using up the battery by pushing the "Menu" button, "Settings," "Connectivity," "Bluetooth," and "Off." View your phone's Bluetooth connections by pushing "Menu," "Settings," "Connectivity," "Bluetooth" and "Active Devices." A list of Bluetooth devices will appear.
