When you want to use your Verizon Blackberry cell phone outside of the Verizon network, you will need to unlock the phone with a special code so that it can pick up signals from other cellphone service providers. Unlocking the cell phone only takes a few minutes, and you will be able to use the phone within 1 to 2 hours after completing the unlocking process.
Instructions
1. Turn on the phone. Push the power button to "On" and wait for the welcome screen to load.
2. Choose "Options" to enter the settings area, then select "Advanced Options."
3. Modify the SIM card settings. Select "SIM card" from the Advanced Options menu and type the letters "mped." The menu will change within a few seconds.
4. Prepare to enter the code. Type the letters "mep," and press "Alt" and "2" simultaneously.
5. Enter the code (see Resources below). A prompt will appear asking you for the unlock code; enter your code to finish the unlocking process.
