Full Specifications On The Nokia E65

The Nokia E65 is compact but still packed with features.


The Nokia E65, released in February 2007, is a compact slide-style Symbian smartphone. The Nokia E65 does not have a full QUERTY keyboard, making texting and emailing less convenient than on some similar phones. It's also carried by a 3G network (UMTS 2100) that is not yet available in the U.S. However, other features of the E65 compensate for these shortcomings.


Size and Display


The Nokia E65 is 4.13 inches long, 1.93" wide and 0.61 thick, and weighs 4.06 ounces. It supports a 2.2-inch diagonal, TFT (Thin Film Transistor) LCD display with a resolution of 240 by 320 pixels and a maximum of 16 million colors. Underneath the display is a five-way scroll key for navigation. There are also buttons for conference calling, Web access, Contacts and mute; finally, there are soft keys for Talk and End functions. Hidden in the Nokia E65 is a sliding numeric keypad.


Data and Memory


The Nokia E65 supports both Wi-Fi 802.11b/g wireless LAN and VoIP over WLAN. It also supports an older version of Bluetooth 1.2. In addition to Bluetooth, the E65 also has an infrared port and a USB port. The E65 user can choose one of three mobile packet data services: GPRS (General Packet Radio Service), EDGE (Enhanced Data for Global Evolution) and 3G (UMTS only). Only 50 MB storage is built in, but the E65 can add up to two GB with the use a microSD card. The phone has 64MB of RAM.


Camera, Sound and Music


Taking pictures is possible with the Nokia E65's built-in 2-MP camera with a 1600-by-1200 resolution. The camera is also enabled for video conferencing using the CIF (Common Intermediate Format) video format. The E65 can be placed on vibration mode or emit polyphonic, MP3 ringtones on its speaker. The Nokia E65 music player supports WMA, WAV, RA, AAC, M4A and MP3 audio formats.


Operating System, Battery and Applications


Powered by Symbian OS 9.1, a dual ARM 9 220-MHz processor and a standard Lithium-ION 950 mAh battery, the Nokia E65 allows for SMS, MMS, email and Instant Messaging. The E65 supports Java applications for viewing documents and surfing the Web, playing music and videos, recording voice and memos, organizing personal data and printing. Its video player supports WMV, RV, MP4 and 3GP formats. Its document viewer can display Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF documents.
