Set Wifi On A Nokia E71

The Nokia E71 has a built-in Wi-Fi antenna that allows the cellphone to connect to a wireless hot spot. You can set up the connection manually, or use the phone's WLAN Connection Wizard. Connecting to the Internet via a Wi-Fi hot spot can give you faster connection speeds. Since hot-spot connections are not counted against your data allowance, connecting via WLAN can help prevent you being charged for exceeding your limit.

Instructions

1. Open the main menu on the E71.

2. Select "Tools" and open "Settings."

3. Click "Connections" and select "Access points."

4. Click "Options" and select "New access point."

5. Type a name for the connection under "Connection name."

6. Set "Data bearer" to "Wireless LAN."

7. Select "Search for networks" to have the E71 scan for available hot spots. Select "Enter manually" to type the name yourself.

8. Set "Network status" to "Hidden" for non-public networks, or "Public" for public networks.

9. Set "WLAN network mode" to "Infrastructure" if you are accessing the Internet through a wireless access point. Set it to "Ad-hoc" if you are transmitting data directly from one device on the network to another.

10. Set "WLAN security mode" to the security mode used by your Wi-Fi hot spot. If the setting requires a password, you must enter the password under "WLAN security settings."

11. Type the homepage URL in the "Homepage" field. The phone's browser will open to this Web site automatically whenever you use the connection.
