Send GPRS Settings to My Phone
GPRS stands for General Packet Radio Service. It is packet-based wireless communication service designed for GSM cell phones. Almost all the cellular network providers these days offer GPRS services to users for accessing Internet on their cell phones. Even though most of the new cell phones these days support GPRS, you have to activate it first before you can start accessing the Internet on your phone. Activating the service is a fairly simple procedure.
Instructions
1. Contact the customer service department of your mobile phone service provider.
2. Speak to the technical support representative and tell him that you want to activate GPRS. Provide your username and tell the representative about your specific cell phone model. The customer service representative will then send you the GPRS settings through SMS.
3. Open the received SMS. The GPRS settings will then automatically update on your cell phone. There are some cell phone models for which you have to manually assign the settings. The detailed instructions will be provided to you by your network provider. For instance, on an AT&T phone, go to "Menu," "Internet Settings," then "Internet Profiles." According to the instructions particular to the phone and carrier, you might have to select a particular "Data Account" as well.
