Configure A Belkin Wireless Router

Configure a Belkin cable wireless router.

A Belkin wireless router allows users to connect multiple computers to the same Internet connection. Unlike many wireless routers, the Belkin router is fairly easy to configure. The router is a plug-and-play type that needs no manual computer configuration to hook up to an Internet connection. However, the configuration steps need to be followed in a specific order. This allows the modem and router to set up and begin communicating with each other before attempting to connect to the Internet.

Instructions

Configure a Belkin Cable Wireless Router

1. Unplug the AC cord from your main computer's Internet modem. Unplug the Ethernet cable from the back of the modem.

2. Plug the Ethernet cable into the number 1 port on the back of the Belkin cable wireless router marked "To Your Computer."

3. Plug in the other Ethernet cable into your computer's modem. Plug the other end into the Belkin cable wireless router port marked "To Modem."

4. Plug the AC cord back into the cable modem and wait about half a minute before proceeding to the next step.

5. Plug in the router's AC cord, first into the router and next into an AC outlet. Wait 60 seconds for the router to set up before proceeding to the next step.

6. Open a web browser on your computer to see if you are connected to the Internet. If you are, you have configured the cable wireless router and can now attach other computers to it. If you cannot get on the Internet, unplug the modem and router, and wait 10 minutes before repeating the configuration steps.
