Unlock A Nokia 6710

People like to be able to switch SIM cards when in another country.

The Nokia 6710 is a smartphone with dedicated navigation software installed. It generally is supplied locked to the mobile network selling the phone package. This means that it is unable to use SIMs from other networks. The handset can be unlocked by entering an unlock code unique to the phone. The unlock code can be obtained either from the operator or from a dedicated unlock generator on the Internet.

Instructions

1. Find the IMEI number of the phone. Type "*#06#" on the keypad to display the number on the screen. If unsuccessful, remove the battery, and the 15-digit IMEI number will be displayed on a decal concealed underneath.

2. Contact the mobile network who supplied the 6710. Request that they provide you with the unlock code. Some providers will do this, depending on how old the phone is. You will need to give them the phone details and the IMEI number. If they decline to give you the unlock code, then you will need to visit an online resource to obtain it.

3. Navigate to a website that provides unlock codes. Select "Nokia" as the brand of phone. Select "6710" as the model. Specify the country you live in. Select the network provider from the drop-down menu. Type in your IMEI number. Follow the step-by-step procedure on the website. If payment is required, then enter your details. Provide an email address; the unique unlock code will be sent to this address.

4. Remove the SIM card from the 6710. Switch on the handset. Ignore any warning message that appears, and type "#pw+UNLOCKCODE+1#", where UNLOCKCODE is the code you obtained from your service provider or online. The phone will display the message "SIM Restriction Off" and be unlocked.
