Program A Bmw Key

New keys are programmed to operate functions on the BMW.

If you have a new BMW or if you have received a new key for your car, you will have to first initialize and program the key in order to use it. The initial process of programming a key is time sensitive, as is the programming of extra keys. After the first key is programmed you can program the other keys in the same manner. However, there can't be any more than 30 seconds between the completion of the programming of one key and the initialization of programming another key.

Instructions

1. Open the door of the vehicle and enter, closing the door behind you.

2. Insert the key into the ignition and turn the key to position 1 in the steering lock. Leave the key in position 1 for a maximum of five seconds and then return the key back to the 0 position on the steering lock.

3. Remove the key and press and hold button 1, which is the top left button. Underneath button one is a black and white button. This is button 2. While continuing to hold down button 1, quickly press button 2 three times. This step needs to be done in less than 10 seconds.

4. Release the first button. The LED light located at the bottom left of the key will flash for 10 seconds.

5. Listen for the car to lock and unlock all mechanisms in the vehicle in order to ensure that the procedure has been completed. If the LED light does not flash or the locking mechanism fails to initiate, then you must repeat the process.
