Receive Calls With Verizon WiFi
Receiving calls over a Wi-Fi signal can save you money on your Verizon Wireless bill. When calls are made from the Wi-Fi connection, they bypasses your cell phone network, so they don't cost you any minutes. This allows you to purchase a lower rate plan, which can save you money over time. Depending on the strength of your Wi-Fi signal, you can experience crystal-clear telephone conversations, and the person on the line will not know if you're using your cell phone or the Wi-Fi connection. Third-party applications will be needed to receive Wi-Fi calls.
Instructions
Google Voice
1. Access the Google Voice application if you're using an Android-based device. If you are using a Palm device like a Palm Pixie, you can access Google Voice by navigating to Google.com/voice through Palm's website.
2. Give your recipient your Google Voice number, as it'll be a completely separate number from your Verizon number.
3. Answer your call like you typically would when your cell phone rings. The difference is the call will be received from your Google Voice number and not through your cell phone number (make sure Wi-Fi is connected).
Skype
4. Access the Skype application through your phone if you able to download it as an application or navigate to the Skype website. Verizon has exclusive access to Skype, allowing you to make and receive Wi-Fi calls.
5. Login to Skype using the user name and password that you created.
6. Answer any calls you receive. When friends and family see you online, they will know you are available to make and receive phone calls.
