Unlock A Storm Using A Usb Cable

The BlackBerry Storm includes features such as a touch screen, Wi-Fi and apps. If you received your Storm as a special offer or through the mail, it may have a lock on it. This lock prevents you from accessing your cell phone provider's network and using its features. With just a USB cable, you can unlock your cell phone with cell phone unlocking software. Not only is the software easy to use, but it is free to download.

Instructions

1. Enter the number *#06# in your Storm phone. Press the "Send-Call" button. This gives you the 15-digit International Mobility Equipment Identification (IMEI) number that you will need to unlock your phone.

2. Use cell phone unlocking software. Examples include GSM Liberty, Unlocking and Cell Corner (see Resources). Download the software of your choice and save it to your desktop.

3. Double-click the download. Follow the instructions for installing the software. Create a folder to save the software to your computer's hard drive. Install all of the components of the software.

4. Restart your computer. This allows it to recognize the newly installed software.

5. Attach one end of the USB cable to your cell phone. Attach the other end to your desktop computer or laptop's USB port. Double-click the cell phone unlocking software's icon.

6. Wait for the software to load. It should detect your Storm's model number. Enter the IMEI code when prompted.

7. Enter the unlock code into your Storm. Follow any specific instructions for unlocking your specific phone. Your phone should access the network and allow you to use it.
