Unlock A N73 Mobile Phone

The 3.2--megapixel camera, 2.4 display and expandable memory slot are just some of the features packed into the Nokia N73. Released in 2006, the N73 functions on a Global System for Mobile Communication network, also referred to as GSM. If you purchased your Nokia N73 under a contract, it is probably secured to your carrier network. You must unlock your phone to use it on another network, which requires an International Mobile Equipment Identity number (IMEI), a SIM card and an unlock code. Once your phone is unlocked, you can use it on virtually any GSM network.

Instructions

1. Key in "*#06#" and write down your IMEI number, which is also located on the white compliance sticker in the battery chamber of your Nokia N73.

2. Visit or call your carrier to acquire an unlock code. Although unlocking your phone is no longer illegal, carriers are under no obligation to provide you with a code. Purchase a code from an online vendor such as GSM Liberty or Mobile Unlock Solutions.

3. Detach the back cover of the N73 and remove the battery. Slip the SIM card from the SIM card slot and replace battery and back cover. Do not reinsert the SIM card until the unlock procedure is complete.

4. Power up your phone and ignore any messages that flash across the screen of your N73 as a result of the phone's offline profile. The N73 offline profile is initiated when the phone is turned on without a SIM card.

5. Enter "#pw+CODE+7#" for phones on Canada's Fido or Rogers network. Enter "#pw+CODE+1#" for all other networks. Enter the "pw+" by pressing the star "*"key rapidly three times for the letter "p"; press the star "*" key rapidly four times for the letter "w" and press the star "*" key rapidly two times for the + sign.
