Fix An Ipod Failure To Connect To A Pc

Correct connectivity issues between your iPod and your PC by configuring the iPod's drivers.

When connecting your iPod to your Windows-based PC, the Apple Mobile Devices driver establishes a connection between the two devices by detecting the iPod and automatically opening iTunes. If your iPod is not detected when connected to your computer, reinstalling or updating the driver can remedy the issue, according to the Apple support page. For persistent connectivity issues, temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software, as it may be interfering with the detection and synchronization process of your iPod, according to Apple.

Instructions

Reinstall Drivers

1. Select the "Start" menu button, and right-click "Computer" on the pop-up menu. Click "Properties" on the shortcut menu to access the Device Manager.

2. Click the "+" button next to "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" in the Device Manager window, and right-click "Universal Serial Bus Controllers."

3. Select "Scan for Hardware Changes" in the shortcut menu to reinstall the iPod's drivers. Exit out of the Device Manager window, and connect your iPod to your computer using the iPod's cable. If the iPod is detected, no further action is required.

Update Drivers

4. Select the "Start" menu button, and right-click "Computer" on the pop-up menu. Click "Properties" on the shortcut menu to access the Device Manager.

5. Right-click "Apple Mobile Device" in the Device Manager window, and select "Update Driver Software" from the shortcut menu.

6. Click the "Browse My Computer for Driver Software" button, and click "Let Me Pick From a List of Device Drivers On My Computer," according to the Apple support site.

7. Click the "Have Disk" button, and click the "Browse" button.
