Improve A Grundig S350dl

The Grundig model S350DL radio tunes into AM, FM and shortwave stations using a quick tuning knob and slow tuning knob. The S350DL is portable and features a carrying strap, an extendable antenna and a programmable clock. After setting up your Grundig, you might have questions about better tune stations, improve reception and boost sound quality. You'll want to be able to maximize the S350DL's performance before relying on it for news, weather or emergency updates.

Instructions

1. Twist the "Bass" and "Treble" knobs (located to the lower-right of the speaker) to the middle position, which is "5," and turn on the S350DL. With sound coming through the speakers, adjust the bass and treble knobs one by one to enhance the sound output to your liking. Twist the "MW/SW RF Gain" knob (located in the lower-right corner) clockwise to "10," flip the "SW LPF" switch (located on the right edge of the radio) to "Off," and flip the "Stereo/Mono" switch (located on the right edge of the radio) to "Mono."

2. Flip the "Bandwidth FM" switch (located to the right of the speaker) to "FM AFC (Automatic Frequency Control) On" to begin tuning. Use the fast tuning knob (circling the main tuning knob below the display) to put the radio in the vicinity of a station, then use the main knob or "Slow" knob (located below the display) to fine-tune the station. Turn the "Bandwidth FM" switch to "FM AFC On" to access weaker stations more easily.

3. Plug the telescope antenna into the "FM Antenna" jack (located on the back of the radio). The antenna should be securely fastened to the jack. Pull out the telescope antenna completely by grasping the top of it and pulling up, until the antenna ceases to expand. With the FM radio tuned and turned on, twist the antenna around until the station comes in crisply.

4. Place the radio close to a window, and push the "AM/SW Band" switch (located to the right of the speaker below the "Bandwidth/FM" knob) over to "SW2" to begin tuning shortwave stations during the daytime. Use the fast tuning knob to tune to "15100 KHz" on the display. "15100 KHz" is one of the best bands to be tuned to during the day. Tune through "15100 KHz" slowly with the slow tuning knob to find stations. Two additional good daytime band ranges are 21450 to 21850 KHz and 17480 to 17900 KHz in "SW3."
