Disassemble A Pantech

Disassemble your Pantech smartphone.

The Pantech Duo mobile phone was released and marketed to the public in 2007. The phone runs on the Windows Mobile operating system, and is primarily available on the AT&T service network. The phone features a 2-inch TFT display screen, a slide-out keypad and is email/Internet ready. Dismantling your Pantech Duo phone gives you the ability to troubleshoot, repair and replace malfunctioning hardware inside the phone. While you can do this procedure yourself, doing so will void your phone's warranty.

Instructions

1. Press and hold the phone's power button for a few seconds until it shuts down. Place the phone facedown, grasp the battery pack on the back of the phone, slide it downward and remove it from its compartment.

2. Remove the small, Phillips-head screws fastening the phone's back casing in place. Remove the metal bracket from the back of the phone. Insert a thin, flat-head screwdriver into the crease along the outside edge of the phone's casing. Pry the back casing from the phone to reveal the main circuit board.

3. Disconnect all visible ribbon cables from the exposed side of the circuit board. Remove the Torx screws fastening the circuit board inside the phone. Lift the circuit board out of the phone's casing slightly. Unplug all cables from the opposite side of the circuit board. Remove the board from the phone. This exposes the keypad and LCD screen.

4. Remove any screws or tape fastening the keypad and LCD screen to the phone's front casing. Remove both devices out of the phone.
