Unlock A Samsung A437

To switch cell phone networks, you need to replace the chip inside your A437. If the phone came from your current carrier, it won't allow through calls with a different carrier's chip inside. This is a software matter, independent of an contractual obligation you have to complete before being allowed to leave the network. To unlock your A437, you'll need an unlock code.

Instructions

Pay Sites For Unlock Codes

1. Open the Samsung A437 page at My Unlock Code, Unlocking or Mobile Unlocked. (See Resources.) All three are pay sites. Mobile Unlocked offers a money-back guarantee.

2. Remove the A437's battery. Transfer the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number inside the battery chamber to the unlock site you chose when the site prompts you for it. All unlock sites require the IMEI to generate your phone-specific unlock code. After you pay for the code, you'll receive it by email usually in a few hours.

3. Place the old network's chip back into the battery compartment. Some unlock codes are network-specific and may need the old chip inside in order to work. Put the battery back in and close the compartment.

4. Enter your A437's phone mode. Type in the unlock code on your keypad precisely as it appears in the email. If you receive the unlock code "A5946J Send" for example, then type in 259465, then "send" the code to your A437 by pressing the Call/Send/Talk button.

5. Replace your old network chip with the one for the new network. Make an outgoing call to test the unlock code. If this gives you a chip or SIM error message, re-enter the code several more times. If that it still doesn't work, contact the unlock code provider.

Free Unlock Code from the Original Network

6. Call your original carrier's customer service line using a landline so you can read off the IMEI and test the code and new chip while still talking to the representative.

7. Ask for an unlock code specific to your IMEI number. Insert the old network's chip and the battery.

8. Type in the unlock code the representative gives you. Keep the representative on the line while you switch chips to the new network. Make an outgoing call with the A437 to make sure the call goes through.

9. Call your carrier again if the first representative doesn't know about unlock codes. Be polite, since the notes in your file pass from one representative to the next and can influence the degree of cooperation you get.
