Set Up A Linksys Vpn

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a secure, encrypted connection from one computer to another. If you have a Linksys router, you can set it up so that you can form a VPN through the router itself, giving you a way to securely access a computer on your network. Before you set up this VPN, you need to have some moderate to advanced knowledge about routers, networks and VPNs in general.

Instructions

1. Open a web browser on your computer and log in to the router. If you don't know the router login details, you can find them in your router's user manual.

2. Click on the "VPN" link of the router's control panel.

3. Select the "Enable" option for "This Tunnel" and select the "Any" options for the "Remote Secure Group" and "Remote Security Gateway" sections. Select the "Auto (IKE)" Key Management method as well.

4. Enter a "Pre-Shared Key" of a length of at least 8 characters or more. This is the key you use when you connect to your Linksys VPN at a later time.

5. Click the "Apply" button and your Linksys VPN is set up.
