The Nokia 6500S slide phone uses the GSM network, which means you can use it with any network you desire. Feel free to switch networks, or to unlock it when traveling outside of the country. To unlock your phone, learn the phone's International Mobile Equipment Identification (IMEI) number--which provides the representative information about your phone, so that he can give you an unlock code--and obtain a new SIM card to get access to the new network.
Instructions
1. Punch *#06#" into your phone's keypad. Press the "Send" button. Write down the 15-to 17-digit IMEI number.
2. Call your mobile provider. Ask the representative for an unlock code. Provide your phone's manufacturer, make, model and IMEI number.
3. Write down the unlock code as is.
4. Turn off your Nokia phone. Remove the battery cover and battery. Lift up the SIM card with your fingernail and remove the SIM card.
5. Replace the SIM card with a card from your new network.
6. Turn on your mobile phone. It will ask for an unlock code. Enter the code as follows: *#0000*CODE#, with "CODE" as the unlock code.
7. Press the "OK" button. Your phone restarts itself. Once it is back on, you will see the new network's name.
