Copy Messages On A Nokia 3220

Copy messages from your Nokia 3220.

Phones often get lost, stolen or damaged beyond repair, and then your personal messages go with them, unless you have a copy saved. For the Nokia 3220, you can save a copy of your messages on a computer using a data cable and software provided by Nokia. As long as you keep a recent backup, you'll never have to worry about losing your messages again since the files can be copied to another Nokia phone.

Instructions

Connecting the Phone to the Computer

1. Install the Nokia PC Suite software, either from the CD that came with the phone, or from the Nokia website.

2. Open the Nokia PC Suite screen and select "Click here to connect a phone" to open the "Get Connected Wizard" screen. Click "Next," and select "Cable Connection" or "Infrared," depending on which you are using.

3. Plug the USB data cable into the computer and into the phone if you are using a USB connection. The phone may ask what type of connection you want to use. Select "PC Suite," "Nokia Mode" or the default option.

4. Click "Finish" when the device is detected. You are now ready to start the backup operation.

Backing up the Phone

5. Open the main PC Suite screen and click "Backup." The "Nokia Content Copier" screen will open and give you the choice of "Backup" or "Restore." Select the "Backup" option.

6. Check the types of content you want to back up and click the "Next" button. The software will ask where you want to store the backup file. You can select the default option, or change the location by clicking the "Browse" button and choosing a different folder.

7. Click the "Next" button. A progress bar will show you how far the backup has progressed. Once the progress bar is full, you have a copy of your messages on your computer.
