Convert A Mobile Into A Webcam With Java Software

Turn your mobile phone into a webcam using Java software.


Using your a webcam means that you can see your friends, family, colleagues or clients even while you are away from home or out of the office. You can turn your mobile phone into a webcam, which will allow you to carry one less piece of hardware with you when you are on the road. All you need is a piece of Java software that takes minutes to install and you can be talking and looking at your friends and family in no time.


Instructions


1. Look for Java software that is compatible with your phone. A few programs to consider are Mobile Webcam for Java, Mobile-Mir, and Mobiola (see Resources for the download links). The first two programs can can be downloaded for free and Mobiola is available for $20.00, as of November 2010, and comes with a 7-day free trial.


2. Download the software to your computer and click on the file to install it. Wait for it to install on your computer. These programs have a client software for both your PC and your mobile phone.


3. Open up your mobile phone's web browser and download the software program from the website. Install the software by clicking on the file and clicking "Next." Wait for the program to install.


4. Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable. Wait for it to recognize the phone. Go to the "Computer" icon on your desktop and look under "Removable Drives." You can also choose to connect your phone to computer using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.


5. Click on the phone icon. When you do, a video feed will appear on the screen. Improve the image quality of the feed by adjusting the bars present in the video control panel of the software. Your mobile phone has no been converted into a webcam.
