Take Apart A Razr Phone

If you want to modify, upgrade, or change the SIM card on a Motorla Razr phone, you will need to take it apart without scratching the paint or affecting the hardware. Disassembling the Razr phone is a relatively simple process and you only need a few small tools to open it.

Instructions

1. Remove the battery door. Flip the Razr phone over and pop open the battery door using a small flathead screwdriver or the plastic card.

2. Remove the SIM card. The SIM card will be located under a clip on the right side of the phone. Gently tug on it to pull it out from the top.

3. Loosen the T6 screws. You will see two silver T6 screws, one on either side of the phone. Unscrew these using the T6 screwdriver and set them aside in a safe place.

4. Remove the bottom of the Razr. You will need to gently pull apart the bottom of the phone, using a SIM card or another thin card. Avoid using a screwdriver for this because it is easy to scratch or damage the phone with a sharp object.

5. Pull the phone apart. There is one more small piece of plastic holding the phone together, but it will come apart when you pull gently on the bottom of the phone.

6. Remove the keypad. Bend the small metal tabs holding the keypad in place on the inside of the phone. Use the T5 or T6 screwdriver to pry them upward so that the keypad cover can be removed.

7. Remove the screen. Use the T5 screwdriver to remove the rubber dots in each corner of the screen, then unscrew the T5 screws in each corner. The screen can be moved easily with your fingers or the SIM card.

8. Unclip the cover. Gently pull up the cover of the Razr to remove the entire cover off the phone. The cover is connected with small plastic clips on both sides. And it can be snapped in and out with light pressure.

Compose A Song On The Computer

The great thing about the computer music revolution is it makes it so much easier to compose music, even for novices. Of course, some amount of talent is necessary, but you can build up a song piece by piece, rather than trying to handle everything at once.

Instructions

1. First, get yourself a good multi-track recorder. If you're on Mac: Logic or Garageband. If you're on PC: Cubase or Pro Tools. There are many others. Make sure you're able to record a maximum number of tracks-your computer's processing power has a lot to do with this, not just the program itself. You'll also need an audio interface to record guitar, bass, or vocals.

2. Start with the drums. Lay down a simple drum track and let it play out for three to four minutes. Using a drum machine or loops makes this a lot easier. Loops are pre-recorded drum parts. A lot of loops can be downloaded for free online.

3. Add a bass line. Again, you can use loops. You can splice different bass lines together for the verse, chorus, and bridge.

4. Add synth, guitar, or other instrument. Here, a midi controller is highly recommended-a keyboard that triggers software or virtual instruments. You can switch around between instruments to see what sounds best-for example, play the same part as piano, as synth, as guitar, etc.

5. Add a vocal line. This is what trips people up, especially if they've never sung before. A good trick is to play a vocal line on the keyboard first, rather than writing the part with the voice. The same goes for harmonies-try and find the harmony on the keyboard or guitar, instead of trying to sing it. If you're really timid about this, start with an instrumental.

Replace A Nokia E71 Keypad

The full QWERTY keypad on the Nokia E71 allows you to quickly navigate around the device and type out quick messages, so if the keypad gets damaged or stops working, the E71 can become mostly worthless. The keypad is simply a thin piece of plastic that sits inside the front housing, so if it gets damaged, it will probably be much less expensive to just replace the part, as opposed to buying a new device. To get to the keypad, first remove the front cover from the E71.

Instructions

1. Turn the Nokia E71 so that you are looking at the back side. Push down on the battery cover, which takes up almost the entire back side of the device, to remove it. Pull out on the E71's battery to remove that as well. Pull down on the SIM card to remove it.

2. Remove the four screws from the back of the E71. There are two screws on each side of the phone, with one at each bottom corner of the device and one at the midpoint of each side.

3. Locate the two small gaps on each side of the E71. The first gap is about an inch up from the bottom of the device, and the second gap is about a half-inch up from the first one. Push down on all four gaps, one at a time, to release the clasps that hold the front housing on the device.

4. Turn the E71 over. Insert your pry tool underneath the front housing. Move your pry tool around the housing until you can lift up to remove the housing from the device.

5. Push down on the front of the keypad to pop it out of the front housing. Turn the front housing over and place your replacement keypad into the opening at the bottom of the housing. The tabs on the side of the keypad prevent it from falling through.

6. Place the front housing back on top of the E71. Push down to snap the housing into place. Turn the E71 over and replace the four screws. Then replace the SIM card, battery and battery cover.

Update An Expired Certificate For An Sis

Go online to a SymbianSigned account to generate a new developer's certficate for SIS files.

"SIS" is a type of file format used for installable applications on the Symbian operating system. The Symbian operating system is used by some smartphone devices, such as the Nokia E7. To install a SIS file onto a Symbian-based mobile device, the SIS application has to be "signed." This signature is a security measure of sorts. If the original .crs file is no longer saved on your computer, you can download the file again from the user account area of the SymbianSigned interface. After downloading and saving the file to your computer, navigate back to the "Request" portal on the SymbianSigned interface and upload the file.

4. Follow the on-screen prompts to generate a new Developer's Certificate. This newly generated Developer's Certificate can be downloaded anytime by logging into your SymbianSigned account. Remove a Memory Card From a Cell Phone

Cell phones not only have their own internal storage, many also have external storage capabilities as well. 3. Press the card in gently with your index finger and the card will pop out.

4. Pull the card all the way out. You can now use it for a different cell phone or device that supports microSD memory. You can also use it with a SD card adapter for use on a computer or laptop.

Fix The Automatic Car Windows In A Kia Optima

The power windows in the Kia Optima get their power from a fuse under the driver's side dash. The power window switch in the driver's door has an automatic-down circuit board under the driver's side window switch. All the windows can be operated from the driver's door as well as from the individual doors. When the power windows fail or an individual window fails to operate, the cause should be explored first to determine the correct repair.

Instructions

1. Check the fuse for the power windows. Operate the windows and see if the problem is isolated to one window. If not, the switch is most likely bad and needs more diagnosing.

2. Remove the door panel to the inoperative window. Start by removing the two Phillips screws in the area of the arm rest and the one screw that holds a plastic cover in front of the door handle. Remove the plastic cover over the retaining nuts for the outside side-view mirror.

3. Insert the common screwdriver in between the door panel and the door to pry out the trim fasteners along all three sides of the door panel. Hold the door panel away from the door enough to disconnect the electrical connectors from the window switch and the power door locks.

4. Remove the door panel and then remove the window switch from the panel. Plug the switch into its connector and turn the ignition key on. Move the switch in both directions and listen for the motor to work. If it does not, check the back-side of the switch with the voltmeter as it is operated to see if there is power to the terminals when activated. If there is power, the motor is bad. If there is no power, the switch is bad.

5. Remove the bolts holding the window to the horizontal track. Insert the common screwdriver in between the window and door to act as a wedge to hold the window up when the regulator is removed. Turn the key off and disconnect the switch.

6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the window motor. Remove the four nuts--two on each side of the door--holding the window track in the door. Remove the three bolts holding the window motor to the door. Remove the track with the motor from the access in the door. Install new parts in reverse order of removal.

Find Unlisted Cell Phone Numbers For Free

Find Unlisted Cell Phone Numbers for Free

Unlike home phone numbers, cell phone numbers can be difficult to obtain through a traditional phone directory. People often lose touch with their loved ones because phone numbers are constantly changed. It can become annoying when you call a number and find out that someone else owns that number. Finding an unlisted cell phone number is possible by doing a bit of research, and it can be done for free.

Instructions

1. Speak to mutual friends to find out whether they have recent information on the person you are trying to contact. It is possible that the person asked someone to pass the new information on to you.

2. Call any numbers that you might have for the person. Sometimes the new owner of the number will be able to give you the person's current information, if they have been authorized to do so.

3. Conduct a web search for the person you are trying to contact. Although the number is unlisted, you can search the person's name and last known location. This can generate information for the individual and the cell phone number might be listed.

Why Won'T The Sound On My Computer Work

A sound card lets PC users enjoy music, games and Youtube videos. If sound stops coming out of the PC, the user needs to track down the cause to get things working again. The most common PC audio problems are also the easiest to fix.

Check for the Simple Stuff

Cords frequently come loose, especially in houses with pets. Make sure the cord for the PC speakers is plugged into the sound card and that the switch had not been turned off accidentally.

Sound Card Driver

The user can determine if a sound driver for his sound card is loaded by clicking on the start menu, entering the control panel and clicking the system icon. Select the hardware tab from the dialog box and scroll down to audio devices. Select your audio device and see if the driver is installed. If the user has an Internet connection, he can have Windows search for an updated driver for the device. Installing the driver directly from the sound card installation CD often works better.

IRQ Conflict

If two devices use the same IRQ on the computer, neither one works properly. (IRQ stands for interrupt request and is used in Assembly and machine language to manipulate PC devices. Executable programs run machine code.) The IRQ must be changed for both devices to work. Windows does not let the user change IRQ settings by default, but users can adjust them within the device manager. Click on resources and turn off the automatic option. Change one of the conflicting devices to an unused IRQ.

Sound Only Out of One Speaker

Provided the speaker has not stopped working, this problem can often be fixed by checking the volume settings and adjusting them accordingly.

Component Services

If a Windows user does not have sound service, the user may not have the appropriate Windows service turned on. Click on the start menu. Click on administrative tools. Select component services from the pull down menu. Enable the Windows Media and Audio services if they are not already enabled.

Bad Sound Card

If the sound card itself is bad, the user must replace it with a working PC audio device.

Enable Bluetooth Services On My Pc

Bluetooth can be used to link a PC and devices such as headsets.

Bluetooth is short-range wireless technology used to transfer data between electronic devices. Such devices include PCs, mobile phones, headsets, digital cameras and printers. It can eliminate the need for wires in certain connections, meaning devices can be connected to a PC quickly and easily to transfer information. This can include photos, music and voice communications for making Web phone calls.

Instructions

1. Check that your computer has a Bluetooth adapter. Open the "Start" menu and click on the "Control Panel" icon. Click on "Performance and Maintenance," followed by "System." In the system properties window, click on the "Hardware" tab. Click on "Device Manager" and expand the "Bluetooth Devices" icon to list the Bluetooth capability. One device listed will indicate that your PC has Bluetooth capability.

2. Turn on the Bluetooth adapter. On many notebooks and PCs it is indicated on the outside of the computer or via a function key on the keyboard displaying the Bluetooth or wireless logo.

3. Right-click on the Bluetooth icon in the system tray on the right hand side of the task bar. Select "Start the Bluetooth Device" from the pop-up menu.

4. Test the Bluetooth connection. Right click on the Bluetooth icon in the system tray and select "Quick Connect" for devices that are already added, or "Add a Bluetooth Device" to start the Bluetooth setup wizard. Once paired, your PC can now interact with Bluetooth devices.

Remove Wheel Lock Nuts

A wheel lock nut or wheel locking nut is a device used to "lock" the rims on a vehicle. With a lock nut in place, it should be extremely difficult to impossible to steal the wheels off of your vehicle. Unfortunately, if you lose the key to the locking nut, you won't be able to remove it without doing a bit of work. It may seem unbelievable, but lug nuts are very soft and if you need to, you can remove a wheel lock nut by chiseling it off.

Instructions

1. Place the cutting edge of the chisel over the top of the wheel lock nut. Do not place the cutting edge on the face of the locking nut. When you position the chisel cutting edge, you are only going to chisel off the very end of the locking nut.

2. Hit the end of the chisel with the hammer. Because lug nuts are soft, you should be able to easily chisel off the tip of the wheel lock nut. You don't want to chisel off more than the tip because you could end up hitting the studs underneath that the wheel lock nut is threaded on.

3. Position the grade 8 bolt over the end of the chiseled wheel lock nut.

4. Turn on the tig welder and let it heat up. Position the end of the tig welder on the bolt. Put your protective face mask/shield over your eyes. Spot weld the wheel lock nut to the grade 8 bolt.

5. Place the socket wrench and appropriately sized socket over the end of the bolt.

6. Place the breaker bar over the end of the socket wrench and turn counterclockwise, and the bolt will come off along with the wheel lock nut.

What Is The Sis Pci Ide Controller

These white slots are PCI slots

A SiS PCI IDE controller is a peripheral card that adds additional IDE drive channels to a computer through a PCI slot. The controller is made by the company Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS).

What It Does

This is an IDE slot on a hard drive.

A SiS PCI IDE controller can be used to add more IDE channels to a computer. IDE is an antiquated type of connection that is used to connect CD-Rom drives, DVD-Rom drives, floppy disc drives and hard drives to a computer. Most computers that use IDE only support between two and four devices, because of physical and software limitations. Additionally, PCI IDE controllers can be used to add IDE connections to computers that use the SCSI connection type.

Unlock The Nokia E51

Nokia E51 phones can be unlocked to allow them to work with any carrier's SIM card.

Telephones that operate on the Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) network are sometimes locked to a particular provider's network. GSM phones are designed to work on any carrier's network by simply changing the phone's Subscriber Information Module (SIM) card. Phones that are locked to a network will not switch networks when a SIM from another carrier is inserted. The Nokia E51 is a GSM phone that can work well on any global network. If yours is locked to a particular cellular provider, you can remove the lock to allow it to work on any network in the world.

Instructions

1. Insert a SIM card into the phone. If one isn't already in the phone, slide the back of the phone down to remove the battery cover. Remove the battery by pulling up from the bottom. Slip the SIM card with the notch to the top-right into the SIM holder above the battery compartment.

2. Find the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) for your phone. There are a couple of ways to do this. One is to remove the back from your phone and look at the sticker under the battery. The number is printed on that sticker. The other way is to enter the code *#06# on the phone's keypad. Press "send" and your phone will display its IMEI. Some E51 language implementations may call the IMEI a "Serial number."

3. Once you have the IMEI, either enter the IMEI and your phone's carrier into the unlock code generator or on a website that sells unlock codes. Some independent cellular phone retailers, especially those outside of the United States, will also sell you an unlock code.

4. Remove the SIM card from your phone and replace the battery.

5. Power the phone on and enter the unlock code. Many commercial unlock code services will provide several codes in case one doesn't work. Unlock codes are in the format #pw+555 979 5076+3#. If the code is accepted, a message indicating that the SIM restriction is turned off will appear.

To allow a cell phone to work with another network provider, the cell phone must be "unlocked." Why Is Active Standby In A Nokia E65 Missing

The active standby mode on Nokia E65 cell phone lets you access your favorite applications and plugins more quickly, but the feature will disappear if you change your settings. Active standby will also be turned off if you restore the phone to its factory settings. You can always get active standby back and customize it again if you have accidentally disabled it.

Active Standby

Active standby is the state your phone is in when you have turned on your device, but have yet to enter any text or choose an option from the homepage. While in active standby, you can always see certain information, such as your network and service provider. If you enable it, you can also see a toolbar with applications that you want to access quickly.

Enabling

If you don't see any applications on your active standby screen, active standby may have been turned off on your device. By default, active standby is set to off on a Nokia E65, so you must turn it on after you purchase the phone. To enable active standby, go to the phone's menu and choose "Tools." After you choose "Settings" and "Phone" go to "Standby Mode" and turn active standby on. You can customize which apps appear on your homepage by going to the "Active Standby Apps" option in "Standby Mode" settings.

Restoring

A Nokia E65 that has been restored to its original settings will no longer reflect the active standby screen that you have customized. When your active standby applications disappear because the phone has been reset, you will have to enable active standby again and rebuild the list of apps and plugins that you see on the homepage.

Consideration

When active standby is disabled, regular standby is always enabled. In standby, you can still see your wireless provider and network information. While the navigation keys are used for scrolling in active standby, in regular standby the keys serve as shortcuts. For instance, the left scroll key is used to get to the screen where you write and send text messages.
