What Is Needed To Start A Cell Phone Business

Cell phones

Cell phone businesses have become more and more prominent. Cell phone carrier stores used to dominate the market, but now many independent businesses are doing well. You will need a few basic things if you're considering starting a cell phone business.

Licenses and Permits

To make sure your business is legitimate, secure a tax ID number and formally choose a business structure. You can be a sole proprietor, which is the least costly and easiest for cell phone stores just starting out, a limited liability corporation (LLC), or limited liability partnership (LLP). If you want to use a business name other than your legal name as a sole proprietor or your corporate name as a corporation, file for an assumed name certificate.

To be able to open wholesale accounts with cell phone suppliers, get a resale certificate.

Money

Starting a cell phone business in a physical store location will cost you the most money, and you need to have at least $10,000 at the start -- this figure all depends on how much your rented space costs, and whether you plan to have employees.

Running an online cell phone business costs less money to start, between $200 and $5,000. You can spend as little as $200 if you plan to dropship your inventory. If you plan to buy your phones wholesale, you will need to spend more, upwards of $5,000.

Location

You can run your business from a physical retail store or through an online store. If you choose a physical storefront, you can rent a mall booth, kiosk, or inline store, or rent space in a strip mall or shopping center. Choose a location that has a lot of foot traffic, as that is where much of your business will come from.

If you want to run an online cell phone store, design an attractive, well-organized site and get a merchant account so you can provide your customers secure payment processing.

Technology

At your business location, you will need a computer, internet connection, and phone at the minimum. Also have a way to track inventory, make, track, and send invoices, and store customer information on your computer.

Inventory

The most important part of your business will be the phones and accessories. Buy these wholesale, which is what you will have to do if you plan to open a physical storefront. Even if you have an online business, buying phones wholesale will result in greater profits.

If you don't have enough startup money for inventory and you want to start an online cell phone business, you can choose to have your inventory dropshipped. Dropshipping is when a manufacturer stores inventory and ships it to a business's customers; to profit, the business has to raise the base price of the items available from the dropshipper. Dropshipping will not make you as much money as buying items wholesale, but if you sell enough items, it can be lucrative. The key to making this scenario work is launching a very effective marketing plan.

Convert Jad To Cod

Third-party mobile phone applications, known as midlets, come in the JAD and JAR formats. These file formats cannot be loaded onto a BlackBerry device, meaning you must convert them into a BlackBerry-compatible format if you want to use them. The RIM Java Developer Environment comes with the RAPC utility, which lets you convert these files into the BlackBerry-compatible COD format using the computer's Command Prompt command line interface.

Instructions

1. Open a Web browser and navigate to "Blackberry.com/developers." Click the "Java" icon, followed by the download link for the RIM Java Developer Environment to download the install file.

2. Double-click the install file and follow the onscreen instructions to install the RIM Java Developer Environment onto the computer.

3. Click the "Start" button in the computer's taskbar and select the "Computer" option. Double-click the "C:\" icon, followed by the "Program Files" folder.

4. Double-click the "Research in Motion" folder, followed by the "BlackBerry JDE X.X" folder where "X.X" is replaced with your JDE version number. Double-click the "bin" folder, then drag the JAD file that you want to convert into the "bin" folder.

5. Click the "Start" button and select "All Programs." Click the "Accessories" option, followed by the "Command Prompt" option to open the Command Prompt window.

6. Type "rapc import="c:\Program Files\Research in Motion\Blackberry JDE X.X\lib\net_rim_api.jar" codename=name -midlet jad=name.jad" in the Command Prompt window. Replace "X.X" with your JDE version number and replace "name" and "name.jad" with the name and filename of the JAD file, respectively.

7. Press the "Enter" key to execute the command. Upon executing the command, the JAD file will be converted into a COD file and saved in the "bin" folder.

Use Mobile Web On Cricket With A Fully Flashed Phone

Cricket uses Code Division Multiple Access or CDMA technology, which requires that a phone purchased from a different CDMA carrier be re-programmed or "flashed" prior to being used on the Cricket network. Although Cricket doesn't perform flashing for you, the carrier activates service plans on devices that you've already flashed, which include the option to access the mobile Web on Web-ready devices. Have a Cricket retailer activate this feature for you.

Instructions

1. Visit a Cricket retail location with the flashed phone in tow. If you don't have a Cricket corporate store in your area, you may visit any cellphone retailer that displays a Cricket logo in its window.

2. Browse available service plans with the representative on duty. Emphasize that Internet service is a requirement and purchase the plan that best meets your monthly needs.

3. Have the representative activate your flashed phone. Since Cricket is a prepaid network, you don't need to submit your Social Security number for a credit check, but you do need your name, address and other identifying information to set up the account. You may also need to pay a one-time activation fee.

Flat Screen Tv Cleaning

Purchasing a flat-screen TV can be very exciting. After a while the excitement will be replaced with maintenance reality. Learn about flat-screen TV cleaning to properly maintain your investment. TV screens can be ruined by pesky dust particles. Below are the dos and don'ts of flat-screen TV cleaning.

The Dos

There are maintenance products specifically for the upkeep of flat screen TVs. These products are available in kits and sell for about $30. Included in these kits are a micro-fiber cloth and specialized gel for the TV's surface. Apply the gel to the micro-fiber cloth and gently wipe the screen. An inexpensive alternative is a soft cloth moistened with water. Use the moistened cloth to gently wipe the screen. Disconnect the TV's power before cleaning to maximize the visibility of dust particles.

The Don'ts

Improper maintenance of your flat screen TV can lead to permanent damage. Never use products with alcohol or ammonia. Alcohol and ammonia can damage the chemical coating on the screen. Never use paper towels; their fibers can scratch the screen. Never apply cleaner directly to the TV; If applied it can leak into the TV, posing a risk to the circuitry. Rigid motions like rubbing and scrubbing with a cloth also can be harmful. A large buildup of dust can impair any electronic product.

Flash Cellphones

To flash a cell phone is to install programming for a code division multiple access (CDMA) network onto the handset. Normally a cell phone comes with the programming already on it. If you want to switch to another CDMA network, you have to have the cell phone flashed. Most CDMA mobile carriers provide this service for you in their stores.

Instructions

1. Contact your future CDMA mobile carrier to verify that they support the use of your cell phone on their network.

2. Back up the important information from your cell phone to avoid losing it when the flashing software reprograms it. Use the method that is most efficient for your cell phone brand and model. Just write down all of the important phone numbers if you don't currently use a backup system for your cell phone.

3. Take your cell phone into your CDMA mobile carrier's store location if they have the flashing software available. Ask for their recommendations for local retailers that offer cell phone flashing services if they do not. Pay any fees associated with flashing the cell phone.

4. Have the customer service representatives from your new CDMA mobile carrier activate your cell phone on the network. Pay any fees associated with activating the cell phone and setting up a new account.

5. Restore the information that you backed up in Step 2 to your handset using the recommended method. If you simply wrote down the important phone numbers from your phone, manually input them back into the handset.

6. Call your old CDMA mobile carrier to cancel your service contract. Pay any fees associated with canceling.

Transfer An Mp3 To A Cell Phone

You can send an MP3 to a cell phone.

Cell phones continue to get packed with more and more features, and somehow they also manage to get smaller. In a world where they can simultaneously pump music into our ears, guide us to a hot-spot restaurant, and connect us with our friends and loved ones, it's hard to imagine living without them. Cutting edge cell phones come equipped with large hard drives, making it easy to transport large music libraries in our pockets. Advancements have made it easy for users to upload music to phones in mere seconds.

1. Connect the phone to a computer using a USB cable. Many phones now have mini USB ports that allow them to connect directly to personal computers for charging purposes, as well as data transfer. MP3s can be uploaded in this fashion on phones with this feature.

2. Transfer the file via Bluetooth. Most cell phones have a Bluetooth transmitter. Most computers do as well. Pair the cell phone with a computer and find out if the particular make and model of the phone allows incoming MP3 transfers.

3. Email the MP3 to the phone. Most users of smart phones like iPhones, Blackberrys and Androids have email servers activated. Attach an MP3 to an email, send it to the phone, and then download it to the phone.

The Difference Between Wap & Bluetooth

Smart phones often implement both WAP and Bluetooth.

Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and Bluetooth are two completely different technologies with different purposes and applications. In most cases, WAP and Bluetooth are implemented together only in a cell phone.

Function

WAP is a specification that allows wireless devices to access information across a number of network standards, including the two most common cellular standards: Code Division Multiplexing Architecture (CDMA) and Global System of Mobile Communication (GSM). Bluetooth is a short-range secure wireless radio standard designed to allow wireless accessories like mice, keyboards and headsets to work with digital devices like computers and cell phones.

Devices

Wireless devices like cellular phones, pagers and two-way radios can use WAP to display data and information from the Internet. These and other devices can use Bluetooth to create a 30- to 40-foot secure connection between various Bluetooth-enabled devices.

Status of Standard

Bluetooth is a mature standard that is well documented. Bluetooth-compliant devices are very likely to work well together. WAP, however, is still a draft standard, yet it is commonly implemented.

1. Eject the disc if you see any of the following error alert messages on your Panasonic CQ-VAD9300U display monitor: "E1," "REGION ERROR," "E2" or "E3." If you can't eject the disc, push the "Reset" switch inside the CD changer and then try to eject it again.

2. Flip the disc -- label side up -- and reinsert it into the player if you see "E1" on the screen.

3. Look at the case that your disc came in for the region code if you see "REGION ERROR" on the screen. If the region code isn't approved for use with the player, return the disc to the case, set it aside and then play a disc with the appropriate region code.

4. Insert a different disc with the same region code into the player if the code matches. If the second disc plays, check the first disc for dust, smudges or scratches and then clean and repair the disc if necessary. If it doesn't play, reset the player and try the discs again.

5. Clean and repair the disc if you see "E2" on the screen.

6. Check the damages if you see "E3" on the screen. If the disc looks fine, try another disc. If the second disc plays, the first disc may have a defect that caused the player to lock up. If the second disc doesn't play, reset the player by pressing the "Reset" switch and try again.

No Error Alert Messages

7. Eject the disc if you don't see an error message on your Panasonic CQ-VAD9300U display monitor. If you can't eject the disc, push the "Reset" switch inside the CD changer and then try to eject it.

8. Make certain that you inserted the disc correctly -- with the label side up. Additionally, check the disc for damage or marks. If necessary, clean the disc and/or attempt to repair it as needed and then try playing it again.

9. Confirm that you're trying to play an approved disc type. The player can't play discs with regions codes that don't match or DVD-Audio, DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, SVCD, VSD, SACD, CVD, CDG, CDV, CD-ROM (excluding MP3), CD-R (excluding CD-DA and MP3), CD-RW (excluding CD-DA and MP3), photo CD and DivX discs.

Problems With Power Windows

Power windows are useful but can sometimes have problems.

Power windows are useful and convenient options, and come standard on many vehicle models. Like any piece of machinery, power windows can encounter problems from time to time. Fortunately, many of these problems fall into several major categories, which are usually quite easy to solve. If you own a vehicle with power windows, you may want to make yourself aware of these problems, as this knowledge could save you time, effort, and money later.

Jamming

Jamming is probably the most common problem that crops up with power windows. Jamming is usually a result of problems with weatherstripping, gaskets, or channels. These parts of a power window assembly take a lot of abuse, both from mechanical use and weather. Sometimes, they can bunch up, break apart, or buckle, which will jam the power window's tracks. Sometimes, problems like this can be solved without taking the window apart, but simply spraying in silicon lube or compressed air and/or cleaning with water and a toothbrush. Other times, the door might need to be taken apart and a piece of the channel-liner glued in place.

Fuses

Overloaded fuses are another common problem with power windows. If you can't hear anything when you flip your power windows switch, this is probably the problem. In this case, you simply need to check the power window fuse and replace it. However, sometimes the fuse may blow because there is excessive drag somewhere on the track, so checking for this is a good idea as well.

Switches

Bad switches are a common problem with power windows. Often, switches will have dirty contact points. Sometimes, the power for all of the window switches throughout the vehicles will run through a master switch located at the driver's door, and should one switch up front get stuck in an "off" position, a switch somewhere else in the car could be affected. You can usually clean out the contacts with tuner cleaner and compressed air.

Switch Rocker

Sometimes the switch mechanism itself is fine, but the actual switch handle, called the switch rocker, doesn't work. This often happens with the driver's side switches, as they get by far the most use. While you usually have to buy an entire new switch assembly, it is quite easy to swap out one of the rear window switch rockers. You simply remove the panel and take the switch out.

How Is Data Transferred Using Packets

The Internet has become the primary source of information for individuals and businesses. In addition, businesses have come to rely on the Internet as a source of customers as well as a medium for facilitating sales. A greater understanding of the Internet or networks in general requires an understanding of how data is transferred using packets.

Packing Up the Data

The data in a network transmission is packed up at the source end by the layers of the specific network protocol in use on the network. Regardless of the specifics, the general process is the same. The application packs the data along with some header information into an "envelope" and passes it to each layer in the protocol "stack." The final layer is the physical layer, where the packet is put on the wire.

Transferring the Data

Once the data is on the wire (or in the air in the case of wireless networks), it typically passes through a network hub or switch. A hub broadcasts the packet to all other computers attached to it without looking at the packet information. A switch examines the header information, which includes source and destination addresses, and sends the packet directly to the destination computer or to a router if the packet is destined for a computer on a different network.

Unpacking the Data

At the destination computer, the packing process is reversed in that each envelope is opened as it passes up the protocol stack. Each layer determines whether the packet is valid and, if so, it passes it to the next higher level. When it gets to the top level, typically the application level, the last envelope is unpacked and formatted and displayed for the user.

What Are Unlocked Cell Phones

What Are Unlocked Cell Phones?

Cell phones designed for specific cell phone carriers can be unlocked so they can be used with different carriers. Each cell phone carrier runs on a specific network. The two most common networks are CDMA (Code Division Multiple access) and GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications). Verizon and Sprint run on CDMA; T-Mobile and AT&T run on GSM, which requires a SIM (subscriber identity module) card.

Facts

Your cell phone must be unlocked to work with another carrier. Unlocking a cell phone will allow you to use it with other carriers on the same network; it will not work with carriers on any other network.

Acquiring an Unlocked Phone

One way to get an unlocked cell phone is to do it yourself. There are many free tutorials online. You also can find independent agents that provide these services. To obtain an unlocked cell phone without proprietary settings, you can purchase it from a third-party vendor. This can be expensive because you will be paying full retail price for the cell phone; however, this will insure that your cell phone functions correctly with any carrier within that network.

Network Differences

For cell phones using GSM networks, you simply can move your SIM card, which contains your subscriber information, to a GSM unlocked cell phone. A locked cell phone will recognize only SIM cards made for its carrier.

With CDMA network phones, it is not always practical to use an unlocked cell phone because it is difficult to get a provider activate the cell phone for you. CDMA carriers know which cell phones belong to them and which ones do not.

Considerations

Remember, each cell phone was created to run on a specific network and will not work on a different network even if it is unlocked. For example, if you unlock a phone that is on a GSM network, you still cannot run it on a CDMA network.

Warning

Unlocking your phone can void your warranty. Contact your carrier for more information. Cell phone settings may not function correctly when used with a different carrier than intended due to proprietary settings. If you decide to unlock your cell phone yourself, make sure you know what you are doing or you can cause damage and make your cell phone unusable.

Charge Liion Batteries

Some lithium-ion batteries require a separate charger stand in order to charge.

You can find li-ion -- short for lithium-ion -- batteries in an array of consumer electronics, including cell phones, computers and digital cameras. Among the advantages li-ion batteries offer over traditional batteries is that they are rechargeable. Rather than disposing of your li-ion battery when it stops powering your device, you simply plug it into a power outlet and allow it to regenerate itself.

Instructions

1. Plug your li-ion battery-powered device directly into the wall if the device itself plugs directly into the wall. If you use a laptop computer or cell phone, for example, you charge its battery simply by plugging it into the wall and waiting until it reaches 100 percent capacity.

2. Remove your li-ion battery from your device, place it into its charging chamber and plug the chamber into the wall if the device itself isn't capable of plugging into the wall. The li-ion battery for most digital cameras charges this way.

3. Replace your li-ion battery if it loses its charge quickly after recharging -- or simply doesn't recharge at all. Although li-ion batteries are, by design, more resilient than their traditional counterparts, they aren't infinite sources of power.

Report An At&T Gophone As Missing

Missing GoPhones do not have to mean lost money on minutes or data.

AT&T provides many phone services, but one of the popular wireless choices is the GoPhone, which allows you to pay as you go, either on a month-to-month plan or by buying prepaid phone cards. AT&T has a convenient way of dealing with lost or stolen cell phones whether they are traditional phones on a long-term plan, or GoPhones. If you lose it, you can quickly suspend your GoPhone service so someone else cannot benefit from your back luck.

Instructions

1. Suspend minutes and data service on your phone. Call AT&T customer care and tell the representative that you have lost your phone. If your phone is pay-as-you-go, call 800-901-9878. If you have a plan, call 866-499-7888. AT&T suspends service on the SIM card installed in your GoPhone, and the company can keep it suspended for a maximum of 60 days for pay-as-you-go or 90 days for a plan.

2. Cancel any Mobile Purchase subscriptions you have on your account by calling 800-901-9878, which is also the pay-as-you-go number. Those subscriptions are automatically deducted and you do not want them to keep coming off of your card if your phone service is suspended. You also want to disable auto refills on a pay-as-you-go account.

3. Buy a new GoPhone with a SIM card, but do not activate it, either at the store where you buy it or online.

4. Reactivate the service for your account. Call the customer service number you used to suspend the service on your account and give the representative the information for the new SIM card. Restore your data and minute service as well as any Mobile Purchase subscriptions and your pay-as-you-go auto refill service.

Fix A Disk Error On A Toshiba Dvd Player

Clean the laser lens on a Toshiba DVD player to solve disc errors.

With regular use, Toshiba DVD players may eventually display the dreaded "disc error" or "no disc message," even though there is clearly a DVD inside the machine. Disc errors are usually caused by a buildup of dust and dirt on the laser lens inside the Toshiba DVD player, which may prevent the laser lens from being able to scan the digital information encoded on the DVD. Before taking the component to a repair shop, however, try a few simple cleaning techniques.

Instructions

1. Open the Toshiba DVD player's media tray and place the disc cleaner in the tray, then close. Allsop, Maxell and TDK are three well-known makers of laser lens cleaning discs.

2. Turn on the TV to view the main Toshiba DVD screen.

3. Press the "Play" button on the front panel of the Toshiba DVD player or use the remote control. The main screen for the disc cleaner should appear on the television, displaying the remaining time for the disc to complete the cleaning cycle.

4. Remove the cleaning disc and replace with a pre-recorded DVD to test the operation of the Toshiba DVD player.

5. Unplug the Toshiba player from the electricity and leave disconnected for 30 seconds before restoring the power. This will cause the component to reset if the "disc error" message persists.

Deal With Rh Incompatibility In Pregnancy

Rhesus (Rh) is a protein found on red blood cells. The Rh factor describes the presence or absence of this protein in a person's blood. Around 85 percent of the population is Rh positive, containing Rh on their red blood cells. However, Rh incompatibility occurs in pregnancy when the mother’s blood is Rh negative and her unborn baby is Rh positive. This can happen if the father is Rh positive and the baby inherits this trait. When Rh incompatibility occurs, there is a risk that the mother’s immune system may identify the baby’s blood as a toxic substance and begin producing antibodies to destroy it. Fortunately, complications surrounding this condition are very preventable.

Instructions

1. The first step in coping with Rh incompatibility is to diagnose it. It is extremely important that a woman starts receiving prenatal care as soon as she discovers she is pregnant. Early detection is critical in preventing complications. Your doctor should begin blood tests to detect possible risk factors such as Rh incompatibility during the first prenatal visit.

2. If you are found to be Rh negative, your doctor will perform another test around the 28th week of pregnancy to find out if there are any Rh antibodies present.

3. If the test shows no occurrence of the antibodies, expecting mothers are typically given an injection of Rh immune globulins (Rho-GAM) to prevent the antibodies from forming.

4. If the test is positive for the presence of Rh antibodies, then the remainder of the pregnancy will be closely monitored to ensure that the levels do not become dangerously high.

5. It is very unusual for the antibodies to reach an unsafe level, but in these rare instances a blood transfusion may be required to replace the baby’s Rh positive red blood cells with Rh negative cells. This is called an exchange transfusion and can be done either while the baby is still in the uterus or after delivery depending on the necessity. However, this is extremely uncommon. Less than 1 percent of all Rh incompatible pregnancies in the United States today require this procedure.

6. During delivery, the baby’s blood and the mother’s blood can mix together, causing the mother’s immune system to become aware of the Rh negative blood and begin building antibodies. This can cause complications for future pregnancies. Therefore, it is standard for the mother to receive another injection of Rho-GAM within 72 hours of delivery.

I Don'T Have Flash Player But Want To Watch Videos That Require A Flash Player

Flash Player is a software program made by Adobe for viewing movies and animations. It is supported by any Web browser and often comes installed on new computers. If you require the Flash Player or an update to the player, you can download it for free from the Adobe website. If you're viewing a page that requires Flash Player or an upgrade, you won't be able to see the animations until you get the player.

System Requirements

Before downloading Flash Player, or an update to your existing version of Flash Player, you must first verify that your computer meets Adobe's system requirements. For Flash Player 10.2, a PC must have a Intel Pentium 4 2.33-GHz processor, Athlon 64 2800+ processor or a similar or faster processor. A Mac must have an Intel Core Duo 1.33-GHz or faster processor. Windows operating system users must have 128 MB of RAM, while Mac users require 256 MB of RAM.

Downloads

You can download the latest version of Flash Player or an update to Flash Player by visiting the Adobe website or another download website, such as CNET's Download.com. Downloading the player or an update to your existing player is free.

If you don't have this player and are browsing a site with Flash video, an error message will appear, explaining that you must download Flash Player. This error message often includes a link to Adobe's website. Because any Internet user can download Flash for free, Flash is a useful animation tool for Web developers. Once you've downloaded Flash Player, you can view all content on websites that have Flash.

Mobile

Adobe Flash Player 10.2 is compatible with smart phones and tablets, meaning you can download it onto some cellular phones, iPad, and some other tablets. Once you download it, you can successfully browse websites that include Flash elements. Just as with a computer, without Flash, you cannot view some websites on your smart phone or tablet.
